Curly hair tips

After washing, always blot your hair dry rather than rubbing or wrapping it turban style.
Use only a wide tooth comb with blunt tips or just your fingertips for styling.
Regularly use a hydrating leave in conditioner.
Shampoo periodically, never everyday.
Occasionally use a deep conditioning treatment. Consult your stylist for frequency of use.
Use a blow dryer with a diffuser rather than applying a direct air current.
Never use an iron to reshape or flatten curly hair.
Once you have styled leave it be. Don’t be tempted to run fingers through it .

Which curls do you have?

Lovely Curls! Lovely dream like curls given the right shape can look fantastic and be the envy of everyone!
Mellow Curls – Not sure what to do waves but may curl here or there. Blow dries very nicely but goes flat and sticks straight to your head.
Mad Curls – Has lots of potential but angry because it has not been treated well with over the counter hair products and/or has been mistreated by an untrained stylist.
Angry Curls – They grow out from the follicles kicking and screaming; worst of all, bullying you! What it needs is a lot of discipline and consistency with the right blend of products and good shaping.

AND FINALLY…

Schizophrenic Curls – This type of curl, after 35 years, still amazes me! Not too many choices unfortunately, but that is when I recommend eliminating the curl and enjoy the straight look.

We might be lucky to be born with curly hair, but we must have a great sense of humor. We go through changes every day and don’t know what to expect. I can say one thing; straight hair might take longer to fix but is not as costly as curly hair! Curly hair is much easier but will take at least three different types of products if not more to keep the curls behaving.
