Yoga is the union of mind, body, and spirit!

The common misconception of Western yoga is that the ultimate goal is a toned body.  Although that is definitely a benefit of a regular yoga practice, the real goal of yoga is to experience a deeper connection of the mind and body with the spirit.  The hectic pace of our daily lives can lead us to a state of stress and “dis-ease.”  With a dedicated yoga practice you will discover how to balance the effort with ease.  Through the controlled breathing of pranayama, the physical effort of the postures, and the focused concentration of meditation, you will experience a transformation that will change your life for the better.  Come and see what Lofty yoga can do for you.  You won’t believe how good you feel about yourself!!!

Our Teachers

Isabella Gutfreund, RYTIsabella Gutfreund, RYT

Isabella Gutfreund has taught yoga for eight years, and has over 6000 hours of yoga teaching experience. She started her career as a Kundalini teacher, and is certified by the Kundalini Research Institute. She has studied under David Swenson, David Keil, David Life, and other well-known yoga trainers. Isabella belongs to the Yoga Alliance and is a Certified Yoga Alliance teacher.
Dedicated to her students, Isabella emphasizes safety and proper instruction techniques. She is gratified to see her students benefit from their yoga practices by breathing well, lowering their stress levels, and acquiring a state of relaxation.

For those new to yoga, there is a common misperception that they need to already have a certain amount of physical flexibility.  However, according to Isabella, it is helpful to have an open mind and no particular expectations. “You don’t have to be flexible to do yoga.  Everyone works at their own level.” She adds, “Yoga is a very personal experience. There is a class for every individual.  Each person gets what they are supposed to get out of the practice.”

Prior to becoming a holistic practitioner, Matthew Corrigan spent 23 years in the film and television industry. In 2003, following the death of his mother, he embarked on a spiritual journey of self discovery and along the way began a new career as a certified massage therapist.

His spiritual journey also led him to yoga and meditation as a way to balance the demands of everyday life. As a follower of ISHTA yoga founder Yogiraj Alan Finger, he soon discovered his true path in life as a teacher. “I come from a family of teachers and had always ignored that gift in my youth, but with age comes wisdom and a certain amount of patience.  Knowledge and wisdom are not something to hoard in your piggy bank of life, they must be shared with everyone in order to grow.”

Matthew is a Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher and continues to study yoga and meditation in the ISHTA tradition. He combines all of his talents and teachings in every class to help you discover your own path. His understanding of the physical body as a massage therapist and his awareness of the subtle body as a yoga teacher gives him unique insight into the connection of the mind and body.
